Gardner CongdonGardner Congdon is Director of Serious Games at Zombie Studios in Seattle, Washington. Zombie Studios has designed and produced over 20 original commercial games for worldwide distribution on virtually every major game platform, and has been building simulations since they were founded in 1993. Mr. Congdon established the Serious Games business unit there in 2005 to address the growing demand for game-based applications for simulation, training, and education. Mr. Congdon has led the development of over 13 serious games. His current responsibilities include setting strategic direction for the business unit, business development, and management of the serious games development team.

Prior to Zombie Studios, Mr. Congdon held both staff and operating executive positions in several industries, the central theme of which has been helping organizations set and achieve strategic goals. Areas of particular interest to him involve identifying market opportunity, defining critical paths to success, and establishing measurable milestones to gauge progress and performance. In addition to his experience in several technical industries he has worked in healthcare and grant work with federal agencies and private sponsors. Mr. Congdon was a founder of CR Acquisitions, a organization focused on research and acquisition of clinical trials companies.

At Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle he managed the Department of Pediatric Nephrology and its grant-funded fellowship program. Through CHMC he also gained experience in pediatric clinical drug and device trials. Continuing his experience with externally sponsored projects he held a central role in designing projects and grant proposals for the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and Boston College where he increased grant awards at both institutions.

More recently as the Vice President for Planning and Development at Stardust Technologies he was responsible for researching and evaluating competing/complementary organizations and technologies for potential acquisition. Here he took an existing experimental laboratory and designed and managed the build-out of a 15,000sf production facility, in the process identifying and implementing a completely novel, more cost effective production methodology. In this role he also integrated operations, communications and security across two facilities in two states.
